Gene Summary
Something about silencing 10 (Sas10) encodes a protein belonging to the SAS10 family. It might be a substrate of the RNA deaminase encoded by Adar, which shows an adenosine to inosine (A-to-I) deaminase activity in pre-mRNA transcripts. The noncoding strand of the adjacent gene, Rnp4F, reads through to form a duplex with Sas10 transcripts at their 3'-end to target both transcripts for promiscuous A-to-I editing and degradation.
